DEVIL MAKES WORK - my submission to DiscoPunk Zine.

The brief was to create a mock album cover that incorporates both Punk and Disco themes, which I think is a winning combination. I was already working with paper mache and wanted the Devil to look like a piñata. This was my reference to folk and community art.

 

The Devil is also influenced by Punch and Judy Shows where they would either use paper mache puppets or wood carving. I worked with paper on this because I wanted to explore accessible materials.

 

In front of the Devil are reprints of a 1972 Playboy tarot card editorial. I feel they bring it strongly back to a '70s era where Disco and Punk were created. I also think they bring a vintage porn kinda seedy vibe, which my version of the Devil definitely appreciates...
